December 14, 2020 Wes and I had our first serious sit-down with our architect Randy Stehling and designer Christina Atkinson. In this 2.5 hour session we covered a lot of ground... but we still have a LOT to discuss! We had all already met at the property a couple times to walk the grounds and brainstorm ideas. But this was the meeting where we all sat downs and ... no holds barred ... created everyone's wish list. Every idea was added to the list; nothing was shot down at this stage. BUT, just for a little teaser... here is where the rub is going to lie.
So, Wes has this really cool idea to have a 2-story library. I think it would be amazing. Except. It is interfering with my closet! While this beautiful old home looks HUGE... it really isn't. The overall property is big... huge lot... guest house... B&B. BUT the main house (which is where we will live after all) is only 2,204 Sq. Ft.! So as much as I would enjoy seeing the two story library... this girl is going to fight to the death for a killer closet... which I have NEVER had! (I can hear Wes saying well I never had a 2-story library!) And that library is just ONE of the things we aren't quite in agreement on... so I think it's going to get very interesting!
The exciting part is we are moving into another phase now that Randy and Brandon have finished the basic measurements of the house so that they can now work on concept plans that would address as many of our wish list items as possible. There are lots of moving parts on this deal. We have to relocate the main staircase AND add an elevator.... did I mention the house will be a one bedroom and that bedroom will be upstairs?
The highlight of this meeting however was when Randy turned over a box of photos of the house. A lady here in town, whom I have yet to meet, was good friends with the previous owner Paul Hamilton before his death and he left these photos with her to give to the new owners. What a TREASURE! I'll share more about what we found in the box in my next post!
And... yes isn't that Mila Pup just the sweetest little dog ever??
